Increasing Partition


I have mandrake 10.1 and I need to increase the partition, how can I do this?

If you have free space then you can use parted or the qtparted front end:
http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/parted.html

Ok great, but I'm a newbie, so how do I use/install that program.

It's not the sort of thing you want to do on a running system so you probably want to run it from a live CD such as knoppix. I think some versions of Mandrake also have it on their live CD.

Remember to backup your data just in case something goes wrong.

Yeah, uh, I have no idea what you just said, sorry. What I did manage to do on my own was decrease teh windows partition, now I just need to increse the linux one.

You know what, I have an external harddrive coming soon anyway, so I'll need redo a lot of stuff. Is there anyway I can just uninstall mandrake then reinstall it.

Just format the whole hard drive and it'll uninstall Mandrake and everything that's on it.

I'm guessing that would DESTROY windows, and they don't make recovery cds or whatever anymore because the company is completely worthless, could I just format the mandrake part of the harddrive?
