I want the TAB button to work like WinDoze

Hi, I've been using Mandrake 10.0 Official for three or four months now and am still trying to set some things set up how I want. I think I've finally got over the need to set Mandrake up to work exactly like WinDoze but there is one thing I need.

I'm not 100% I'm going to explain this right so forgive me if i ramble;

Imagine you have a long list of links on a web page and you need to check that each link is working. In windows i would select the first, then use the backspace button and simply TAB to the next without using the mouse, then hit enter to select.(and repeat) But Opera (or any other Linux browzer as far as I can tell) doesn't work like this.

Is there anyway I could set Opera to work like this. To be honest, i'm just being lazy, sitting with my right hand on Backspace/Enter and my left on TAB is much easier than moving the mouse around, but it's not the end of the world if not,

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Yes under KDE there is NO problem doing this.

Go into the KDE control center.

Then Accessibility/Keyboard Shortcuts

Then un the dropdown which will be currently titled "Current Scheme" choose one of the Microsoft Windows options.

If you want to use the WinKey or the List key, you will also need to go to Keyboard Layouts and CHOOSE a keyboard type and then go to Xkb options to enable the Meta and WinKeys.

Note that if you have Multimedia keys, doing this can also enable multimedia keys and functions.

I know it's a long time since I originally posted this thread, but just in cae others are looking for the same answer . . .

In Opera pressing Shift & X will do this without even going back to the parent page.

Say you have page A, which contains page 1, 2 and 3. pressing Shift & X on page 1 will take you straight to page 2.

Fantastic, I love Linux, for a second I doubt it, then i find it does exactly what I wanted, but even better.

i'm not 100% what you mean by what the backspace key achieves in windows.

But Mozilla Firefox can probably do it.

find as you type links only in Firefox highlights a link that contains the key sequence you enter while visiting a page.
then you can tab through the rest.

Sorry, what I meant was use the TAB key to move to the next link, enter to follow the link, and backspace to go back. I didn't say it like that though did I.

It's what the TAB button selects and passes over that I had the problem with, for example, on the 'Post Reply' page on LQ there is 'Post Reply' then smilies and text parameters and all sorts. using TAB jumps straight from 'Post Subject' to 'Your Reply', whereas WinDoze would select every radio button for a smiley in turn, Bold Italic Under line . . . etc.

I think i've pretty much sorted it under Opera tho, the Ctrl + X function does pretty much that.

I like how TAB skips all the crappy formating and goes straight to post reply
must be personal preference..

actually use FIND as you Type in Firefox like i said.

type Next.
most decent pages have next link .
and i hit enter it follows the link.
BackSpace goes back too. :)
