HP ProLiant DL760; cciss

Hello Peoplez,

I'm having troubles installing Mdk (and many other distros) on the DL 760 server.
It has HP/Compaq's Smart Array 5302, which is supposed to be supported by the 'cciss' driver, however Mdk won't find any harddisks on the beginning of the installation and then I cannot continue.

HP claims that It's supported only by RHAS 3, which works indeed, and some other United Linux distros (Turbo Linux).

Seems like RedHat has a patch for cciss, but I'm asking myself why it's not into the 2.6 kernel tree (maybe it's in the new ones?), or if there's a way to install Mdk on it.

Any ideas?

10x

Well, after some googling I've found out that in Mdk10 the Alt1 image works well in the installation, then you can continue working with the default kernel.
not sure why, though.

Note: It's true for other ProLiants as well. I hope it helps someone
