HP 1000 Problem

I installed Spring and everything worked well except printer installation. On installation and every bootup since, I get an error message; "Could not install the CUPS printing system!" I've looked to other sources for help with this problem to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open a terminal window and execute this command:
Code:
su
Enter your root password when requested.

Next enter this command:
Code:
urpmi cups
If this command succeeds you should be able to set up your printer in MCC (System > Configuration > Configure your computer in the menu system). If it fails, post the exact error message here and we may be able to help.

I'm using different OS and HP printer (Mandriva 2008 and HP Deskjet 932c) but having identical problem. When entering "urpmi cups" the following happens:

# urpmi cups
A requested package cannot be installed:
cups-common-1.3.0-3.3mdv2008.0.i586 (due to unsatisfied libslp.so.1)
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) y
#

Any suggestions?

I stumbled across hplip, searched for it and found it after easyurpmi's help and Mandriva installed it for me. Now the printer works fine. Thanks.
