How to view some files permitteed to only root in GUI mode ?
 

I have try to view some restricted only to root but it display an error message which is you have no permission to view this files. Therefore, i can't edit the file. As a result, i post this topic in order to find out a solution. I have successful view the file but can't edit it. I typed less filename to view the file but i don't know what command to edit a file.

It is not hard to open a file for editing as root in the GUI. For this explanation I will show how to edit the file /etc/lilo.conf.

Open a terminal window and su to root. Enter the following:

kwrite /etc/lilo.conf

Your lilo configuration file will open in kwrite. You will be able to make changes to it and save the changes. To edit any other file replace '/etc/lilo.conf' with the name (including path to file) of the file you want to edit.

Or if you want to use the CLI, install the mc package then as root enter 'mc' at the command prompt. Midnight Commander will start. Navigate to the file you want to edit and press the F4 key. The file under the highlight will be opened in a text editor. You can save your changes with the F2 key and exit the editor with the F10 key. When you are done with Midnight Commander, you can exit it with the F10 key.

go to te K menu then run and type

kdesu konqueror
