how to turn off ipv6?

During my bootup process eth0 shows as failed - even though it subsequently seems to work fine. i have found the following 3 messages in syslog;

IPv6 over IPv4 tunnling driver
add event not handled
eth0: no IPv6 routers present.

I don't (think) i need IPv6 support yet - any idea how I turn this off?
Regards
David

Tried that, didn't work. But on the other hand, there's nothing else in my modprobe.conf, so that might be screwing things up.

Check if you have the service Internet running by means of KDE > System > Configuration > Configure your computer > System > Services.
Post the results here.
I hope it was helpful.
