How to setup noip/ftp on Mandriva....?

Can anyone explain how to install proftd and noip in Mandriva 09 to setup file sharing?

I am trying to share some large files over the net and I am trying to figure out the easiest way to do this...?

You can either use the package manager in Configure Your Computer to do it, or from commandline as root type:
Code:
urpmi proftpd noip
and hit enter. You need to make sure you have the contrib repository to install noip.

Here's what I ran, only to learn that I already had it installed.

[root@localhost stan]# urpmi proftpd noip
Packages noip-2.1.9-1mdv2009.0.i586, proftpd-1.3.1-14mdv2009.0.i586 are alreadyinstalled
[root@localhost stan]#

What I can't remember doing is setting up how to share folder through my ftp://username.myftp.org site, where when you go to that link, it require a password and when password is entered, anyone can view the contents within your share folder using a browser.

Your link is wrong, it should be: ftp://username.myftp.org I still fail to see the problem. I can find no info on having to do anything to GNU/Linux in order use that site. Are setup instructions available when you login on myftp.org?

Yeah I noticed the typo, I did it 3 years ago, whereas when I would send someone that link "ftp://myusername.myftp.org", they could connect to my shared folder on their desktop browser and view or grab my files via ftp.

I forgot how I did it.

1) Somehow I have to setup my routers DNS settings

2) I have to setup my shared folder

and I can't recall how I did this.

I am using a dlink router...

I have had no luck configuring this ftp application named "no-ip" , www.no-ip.com

What I want to do is create the ability to share my folders with someone else online through ftp browser.

Where I can send them the link, as in my : ftp://username.myftp.org and they can logon with username and password and gain access to my folder.

I think no-ip requires DNS settings, and I do not think my DLink router will do this.

If anyone know how, or a better way to do this, please advise....

Thanks, d-1
