How to set hard disk power management
I have just installed Mandrake 9.2 on my PIII 1.0 ghz with 30gig hdd and so far so good. One question I have though - is there somewhere in the gui to control when the hard disk spins down and goes to sleep? I notice there is a power control for display, but so far have not found anything for drives. In addition to hdd spinning down, how would you suspend under Linux?
Thanks, Phil |

Suspend to disk works perfectly on my laptop, Mandrake 9
It creates a suspend image, and the PC turns off. When I turn it on, it resumes back to my linux (like Window$$$ Hibernate option) However, when I close the laptop lid, then it doesn't works (the suspend does works, but when I turn the pc on, all I see is a 1% brightness LCD, and I have to restart my machine) Any ideas? |
Try switching to a terminal first (like CTRL+ALT+F1) and then as root
# service dm restart That should restart whatever you're using for an X display (KDE,gnome, etc) you may need to download a newer version of XFree |
Thanks for the info
But what do you think might me wrong with my Xfree?? I am using Mandrake 9.2, Download Edition |
