how to install yahoo messenger or update gaim??? plz help
ok i have mandrake 10.1 and im using the version of gaim that came with mandrake what i wanna do is either update gaim or install yahoo messenger so i can view my friends webcam anyone know where to go and how to do this i need a lot of help
Gaim doesn't yet support webcams. It's in the works, but it's a way off. I don't know about Yahoo messenger, but I would be surprised if it had webcam support on Linux. Try the Yahoo messenger site would be my suggestion.

Yahoo messenger for linux does not support webcam either. I have heard you can do it with the windows version under wine but I am not sure. Try Ekiga or Skype. I am not sure about skype but it works in Ekiga.
Ekiga's fine for Linux-Linux webcam calls, but I was unable to find any software that would let you do Linux-Windows calls using Ekiga. There is a Windows version of Ekiga in the works but it's still in development.

Ekiga may already be in your repositories or on one of your install cd's. Alternately you can download from the website. Just download the file for your distro and follow the instructions on the website.
Hei it works with Kopete, but only webcam without sound, if you install the following packages: jasper & freeglut, and works only with a v4l webcam not a v4l2 webcam. you can try with Gyachi or Gyache (they are the same but the second is emproved).
