These directions assume you have a broadband connection.
First, go to
http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon and follow the directions.
Then, become root (open a console, type "su", and give your password.)
Then type "urpmi mandrake-doc-en".
If you type "urpmi --auto-select", it will update everything and get a few things it feels you really ought to have
Any other packages you need, type "urpmi package", and it will install it and any dependencies. If you only have a vague idea what you need, type "urpmi -y (thing to search for)". For instance, I found the name mandrake-doc-en for what you need by typing "urpmi -y doc".
If you prefer not to use a console at all, you can use the Mandrake Control Center. First follow the directions at
http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon, then open the MCC, go to Software Management, RPMDrake Install, and select any packages you think you need. Getting lots of stuff in the Documentation section is a good idea
If you do not have broadband, skip the directions at nanardon, which set up your system to download and install things from servers on the internet. Instead, use RpmDrake or urpmi to get packages you need, and it will ask for the Mandrake CD's, and get them off of there.
