Question How to install kernel-source-2.4.22-10mdk.i586.rpm

Hi.

alert!

I was wondering if you great folks could help me. I've recently started using mandrake 9.2, which i bought as the discovery pack. i then discovered that i don't have the kernel source, which i need for installing drivers (i think).

i managed to find the rpm for version 2.4.22-10mdk, which is the kernel version i have, at rpm.pbone.net (Actually there was a link to mirrors.kernel.org, and that's where i downloaded it from)

Question 1
Can i trust the source i got from there to be accurate? If not, where can i get the correct source? I couldn't find anywhere on kernel.org that referred to the specific release 10mdk, only to version 2.4.22

Question 2
Assuming i have the right rpm, how do i now install it?

Thanks very much!

Jaz

You can install it several ways, the most obvious are;
Open konqueror and click on the rpm file, this will start up the package manager (this is the way I did it).
Open konsole, cd to the dir with the rpm file in and type rpm -Uvh *.rpm

If you are worried about the sauce you could always use md5sum to verify the checksum, (never bothered with this myself, I'm not that paranoid, though I do have a Bastille firewall)

Thanks MunterMan!!

I'm not really worried about it being malicious, just that it might have errors.
Unfortunately, though, there weren't any md5 files on the site.
