How to install drivers (ATI RADEON 9250)
People,
my videocard is Ati Radeon 9250(9200 series) 128bit 128MB RAM Mandrakelinux 10.1 Official When I download the drivers from ati.com and try to install them - the following error message appears: install of fglrx_6_8_0-8.8.25-1 conflicts with file from package libxorg-x11-6.7.0-3mdk Please, advise me what to do... |
Did you install the ATI rpm with the "--force" option, i.e., "rpm -Uh --force <ati_package_name>.rpm" ?
This will force the installer to overwrite any existing files including the conflicting libGL, which should allow the ATI driver to install properly. |
Got a 9250 as well with 10.1 CE.
So far I did not try to install the ATI because it looked quite difficult even patches seemed to be needed in some cases. Anyhow, I use fglrx that is shipped with 10.1 and during the install I selected 9200, it all works OK Score there: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=290824 I am a newbee, so take this with a pinch of salt: >install of fglrx_6_8_0-8.8.25-1 conflicts with file from package libxorg-x11-6.7.0-3mdk does not look too good you trying to put driver for 6.8 with xorg 6.7 When I googled looking at the radeon 9200 it seemed difficult to mix and match versions (for a newbee anyhow) If you manage please let us know. I am interested. |
