I downloaded mandrake 9.2 and started burning it to standard CD's (700MB) Disc 2, however, appears to be to big for this (713MB). ANy idea how to fix this?
Which application are you using to do the burns? I had the same problem using Nero6.
Thankfully I had access to a Linux box installed with MDK 9.1 and I used K3B with NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. It didn't quibble once about the media being too small.
So, do you know anyone else who has K3B installed?? :^)
Nero 6 (some versions) has problems with burning close to the limit on CDs. I ended up dl'ing and using burnatonce for disks 2 and 3 (on a WinXP machine). Google for Nero and overburn and you can find some info on the overburn problem with Nero 6.
replace mandrakecd2 with the full file name
and change to the directory with the iso in.
assuming your cdrom is dev=0,0,0
forgot the check command for this
cdrecord speed=12 dev=0,0,0 mandrakecd2.iso
I have burned my cd2 with this, but I am unsure of the sizes I used.

I used both Nero 5.5 and K3b w/ no problems
I didn't have any problems myself burning the disks at all with either Nero5.5 or K3b. Well seeing I didn't have any issues I am glad I saw this post. I almost broke down and bought Nero 6 for the Winblows PC's in the house and I would have encountered this issue at some point. This is why sites like this are a god send. Now I won't be dealing with a headache that could have been in my near future.

Thank you all for your comments. I did it the easiest way: bought myself a box of 800MB cd's. Now I am running linux, I won't need nero 6 anymore, so the problem is solved.
