How to configure Mandi (Interactive Firewall)

Hello all, I am running Mandriva 2006 as a server (HTTP, DNS, File/Print) and it is pretty well loaded, but working fine.

One thing I noticed this morning when I logged into the GUI is all of the attack messages that Mandi was showing me.

It was labeling DNS queries, HTTP access as attacks as well.

I am not sure where to modify Mandi so that it attacks certain ports. I appreciate any ideas that you can throw at me.

I've never used mandi but have a look in the Mandrake Control Centre under security and there's a firewall configurator there. If that doesn't give you enough control (its a very basic interface) you should just edit the shorewall files in /etc/shorewall directly, see: http://www.shorewall.net/2.0/

Can you clarify something

are you using your mandrake box in a way similar to Smoothwall or IP Cop

If you are wanting a print server then SME server or Clarkconnect are well recommended.
They are designed to be servers and have all the tools you'll ever need.

Its generally not considered good security practice to have the same box being your internet firewall and an internal (LAN)server although if you are on a limited budget .....

Can you clarify that last statement
