How do roll a custom kernel into a distro CD/DVD?

How do roll a custom kernel into a distro CD/DVD? Any kernel beyond 2.6.12 freezes my computer. I want to install Mandriva 2007, but don't want to modify the kernel after it's installed. I had no luck with that before. I just want it to be built into the CD.

I think you have a different problem. The kernel should work, if you had any 2.6 ver installed before.

Can you give us(LQ) more info?

The roll your own kernel info can be found and most live distro cd's. Like knoppix, mepis, slax, etc(maybe even One).

I don't think so. I've tried many live distros with the newest kernel, and after about 5 min. the screen grays out, or there is no response from the keyboard or mouse.

Google for the Knoppix WEB site, or for "Live CD". Most of the Live CD distributors provide information on how to create your own Live CD. Doing so is no simple task. I have not created a custom live CD for a long while since MDV-One works so well for me here. I used mklivecd but I am unable to access the WEB site at this time. Perhaps you will be able to do so when you read this

HTH,
