How do I start a program automatically when I boot up?

I want my UPS monitoring software to run when the computer boots up. The program is "upsd" and right now, it's sitting in the installation folder and I have to manually run it each time I turn on the computer.

I'm using Mandrake 10.0.

Place a command to start upsd in /etc/rc.local. /etc/rc.local is the last script to be run at boot. You cannot be sure of what the PATH is when /etc/rc.local is run so use the entire path name for the upsd command, for example: /usr/bin/local/upsd

If you don't know where upsd is use the which command to find it:
which upsd
