How can I find the mandrake version of my machine ?

Surfing the internet I notice there are several mandrake versions (Version 9, 9.1 , ....)

How can I see what version of Mandrake I am using ?

uname -a gives following result :

#uname -a
Linux natbox.domain.com 2.4.19-16mdk #1 Fri Sep 20 18:15:05 CEST 2002 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux

If I remember correctly, the control center version follows that of the distribution, so this may give the answer:
Code:
rpm -qf $(which drakconf)
Besides, I think there's a release file somewhere under /etc; try this:
Code:
find /etc -name "*httpd*" -prune -o -type f -iname "*release*" -print
Yves.

As a last resort, most distros have a /etc/<distro>-release file with the currently installed distro id.

For example:
Quote:
> cat /etc/mandrake-release
Mandrakelinux release 10.1 (Official) for i586
(Yea, I need to upgrade soon.)

cat /etc/issue is another one (filled or not depending on the security level you choose)
cannot remember exactly how much info there is in there,
as I have disabled it on my box
