home folder not opening

sys is 1.7ghz, 512m ram
MDK 10.1

In graphics mode, clicking on the 'home' folder does nothing.
It opened the home directory a few days ago.

Also, clicking on 'multimedia, video' says 'empty' when it isn't.

I checked 'drakmenu' but all seems okay.
That doesn't mean it is however.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

I had same problem while i was using mandrake sometimes. Choosing home from menu still worked and mostly desktop icon too. never tried to solve it.

After installing Mandrake 10.1, did you do an update? Go to Mandrake Control Center --> software --> updates

You should get about 500+ MB of updates. That will fix your "home" icon not opening. This problem has been fixed with the updates. Give it a try

Good idea. I didn't think of that.
However, for the moment, which 'kde***' would correct this.
EG: kdebase, kdegames, etc, etc.

I will do a complete update when I go to bed.

I don't specifically know which kde*** file will fix your specific problem, but it's probably best to update EVERYTHING. Yes, that's right. All 500+ MB of updates. I hope you have broadband :p

Yes, I have dsl.

Also, do you know anything about installing ivtv.
My head is sore from beating it against the wall.

Your first bet would be to try the Mandrake Control Center --> Software --> install and then search for ivtv. See if something shows up. I cannot check as I am at work with Windows 2000 right now. If it does show up, checkbox it and install it.

If not, then post back and we will have to get you set up with URPMI or compiling from source.
