Exclamation helpme dualboot xp/mandrake asus p4p800

HELP!!Mandrake/XP/Asus P4P800

I purchase a p4p800 mother and tried to dual boot xp and mandrake so many times now and every time have completely failed, There something about this motherboard that is preventing lilo or grub from installing correctly,. I even tried system commander and failed. The mbr gets curropted every time, and it happens as mandrake says installing boot loader, Where's the option to stop it from installing, After that I get to the config page where you can change the boot-loader, but by then it's to late, the drives mbr is destroyed.
Even if you say don't install bootloader.
After that all seems hopeless as Norton ghost won't boot from a floppy and all widows based bootable cd won't work. Thanks god I picked up a copy of mandrake move where I can erase the boot track, and partition and then reghost xp.
I CAN INSTALL SUSE 9.0 DVD EDITION WITH NO PROBLEMS, BUT I REALLY LIKE MANDRAKE BETTER.

HERE'S THE SPEC:
ASUS P4P800
120 GIG MAXTOR ATA133
80 GIG IBM ATA100
GFORCE3 TI 200 4X
512 KINGSTON MEM
PIONEER DVDR06D
P2.4B

tried EXPERT INSTALL AND JUST ABOUT EVERY METHOD OF INSTALL, INCLUDING CHAINGING BIOS P-ATA AND S-ATA SETINGS, DISABLING AND ENABELING EVERYWHERE

i'M SO STUMPED
anyone HELP.

tHANKS

If you are trying to install MandrakeLinux 10 Community to dual-boot with Windows-XP, here is what I have heard works:
Windows-XP installed on original HD.
Add new HD to install Mandrake 10 - make the first one, and the original HD second.
Install MandrakeLinux 10 Community on new [first] HD with lilo or grub installed in the MBR.
This way you never touch your HD with Win-XP installed, other than to make it the second HD. If you ever want to go back to Windows - only. you can simply remove the HD with Linux installed, and make the HD with Win-XP the first again. Windows will never know the difference.

HTH,

YES, YOUR INFORMATION IS CORRECT, IT FINIALLY WORKED.
SWAPPED XP TO SLAVE AND INSTALLED MANDRAKE TO MASTER,
AFTER INSTALL LILO FOUND XP AND ALLOWED ME TO BOOT,
tHE COOL THING IS IF YOU JUST SINPLE SWAP BACK THE HARD DRIVED, WITH XP BEING MASTER, WINDOWS BOOT NORMALLY,

tHANK YOU SO MUCH

Unhappy Asus p4p800 but only ONE HDD

I have the same problem, however I have only one HDD and can't really justify purchasing a second HDD.

How do I get a dual boot with Mandrake 10 and XP (already installed).

had Mandrake 9.2 running originally but when I reinstalled with MDK10 it would no longer dual boot. Further more reinstalling 9.2 could not be done. It hangs after POST.

i went to mandrake expert online and told them about the bug they have with the p4p800 however i am not a paying member, so who knows if they will even care.

Anyways I've gone back to the suse 9.0 distribution already as they have better support for the newbee as myself..
The installation was a breeze and it supported my winmodem and installation of my nvidia card were a whole lot easier. Suse yast program make life for the beginner sooooooo easy...
