Ok man, i have installed linux from some days, and i see it's very slow in games, and i can't put resolution higher than 1024 x 768...but...damn, i have a RADEON 9700 PRO!!! With windows i can use easily 1280 x 1024 (not more because i have a LCD 17"). I decided 2 go 2
www.ati.com to download the drivers...installing them with Win Xp was so easy...download...double click...done! here it's the hell!

Before you install
Make sure the following software is already installed on your system:
glibc version 2.2 or 2.3
Download the correct ATI driver package for the XFree86 version you have installed. If you are not sure which, you may download and run the following script to make sure:

Installation using RPM
For each of these steps you will have to be logged on as the root user.
cd to the directory containing the ATI Driver rpm package
Issue the following command:
rpm -Uh --force <ati_package_name>.rpm
Note any error messages that may occur while installing (see below)
Run the fglrxconfig utility to configure the driver
Answer the questions as prompted
When asked to generate an XF86Config-4 file, answer y
Restart and log into X-Windows
Run fglrxinfo to verify the driver is installed correctly
If the output reads OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. then your ATI drivers are installed and configured correctly.
Otherwise, if fglrxinfo indicates that MESA Indirect (software) Rendering is being used, then you may want to repeat the steps listed above, while paying careful attention to the following:
Any error messages during install (see below)
All answers given during fglrxconfig
SO as u see, before installing drivers (that i've already downloaded) i had to download 2 programs. I downloaded the first, but, when i unzip gblic i have just a big number (about-60-70) .rpm files (which are package files yes?) and if i try to install one of them it says it can't be installed because:
opengroupware-theme-default-en is not satisfied ( my linux mandrake 10.0 is in italian...may this be the problem) what i have to do to install packets with linux? and can someone give me a working link to download XFree86?
