Help with multi session download

I'm using Mozilla 1.6 and trying to complete a large download that I can't finish within my ISP's maximium allowable session time (it times out after 5 hours). Therefore I am trying to do it in two sessions with help of Download Manager that was launched automatically when I selected the file to download. I can't get it to work, this is what I did;
1- Connect to Net, launch Mozilla and find the Web page containing the link to the file I need.
2- Choose file to download
3- Choose to save file and execute
4- Download Manager launches and shows download progressing.
5- Just before my session times out, I select Pause from the Properties menu on Download Manager
6- I disconnect from the Net
7- I reconnect to the Net
8- I select Resume from Properties menu on Download Manager
The download does not resume, nothing happens

I tried refreshing the web page immediately before step 8 on another attempt but this made no difference.
How do I download this file over 2 sessions?
Thanks
