Help me get my GUI running

I boot up I only get text..
This was all done by loggin in with root

I have ran the startx and get this:

Code:
(==) Using config file "/etc/X11/XF86Config-4"
(==) Serverlayout "layout1" (0)
(**) |--> Screen1 (0)
(**) |  |-->Monitor "monitor1"
(**) |  |-->Device "Device1"
(ee) No core point device specified
(ee) unable to determine the screen layout
(ee) Error from XF86handleConfigFile()

Fatal Server Error:
no screens found
I run XFdrake and tried almost all combos and same result

any ideas..

sounds like you didn't set up your vid card &/or monitor correctly on install. what vid card are you using? what version of MDK? if this is a fresh install, the easiest thing to do would be to start a reinstall, choose "upgrade", then when you get to the final configuration screen, double check & test your video setup before accepting the configuration.

Yeah it's a freash install.

The video is an Intel 810 onboard card.. I dont know how much video memory there is.

I'll start the reinstall and let ya'll know.

Nope no go.. the same thing

the configuration button on the install is the same as FXdrake.

I reran the install left the config part alone with the same results.

I then reran the install and changed the info and still that same results..

Is there a basic Monitor and vid card to input to get it up?
