yes, find a better title next time

How about comparing which kernel module are loaded in each case
(either with drakconf or via lsmod command)
how about checking /var/log/syslog
how about using draksound
have you checked the mixer levels etc
how about posting all the details of the soundcard
that 2006 gives you so other people can find the thread...
and have more clues to help

intel high def sound card, man 2006 is alsa 2007 show the correct driver for the card. mixer is not there, the system sees the sound card, sees the drivers, but reports not card when you try to start the sound driver.

i have been having problem with updates with man 2007, it can not connect to any of the repo sites. when i try to update, the system actually looks like it is deleting the software.

i use man on a desktop with no problems. it is the only distro besides xandros that picks up the 3945 intel wireless out if the box. i have zero luck with ndiswrapper.

Are you aware a RC is not the final version?
So it can have bugs

mixer is not there,
I've heard of this. You need to install aumix, try also to install kmix
(try both from the command line, maybe even as root)
try also from the command line as root to run alsaconf and alsactrl.
This may or may not work

this is a different topic, may warrant a new thread
2007 is moving from cooker to 2007 community. Normal that you may
have a problem. Are you using easyurpmi
