HI,
While booting Mandrake 10.1 on my PC with 128 MB DDR RAM & 3 gb allocated to linux , it gets hanged infinately in
"Checking root file system"
I tried booting with "linix noapic nolapic " etc
No luck
Could someone help me ?

How long have you waited? On a slow machine with a slow drive, it might take awhile (especially if there is corruption or errors that need to be repaired).
Can you boot the machine with a live CD and mount the file system from there?
Mandrake 10.1 is very old and hardware support may be an issue since it is no longer supported (security and bug fixes have not been developed for 10.1 for several years). In my opinion, you would be best advised to use a release of a distribution that is currently supported. 2007.1 is the current release for Mandriva.
Note: Mandrake merged with Conectiva in about 2005 (a bit after 10.1 was released) and changed their name to Mandriva, so Mandrake is now Mandriva.
