Keyboard layout in Mandriva 2006

At least the Greek Keyboard layout in Mandriva 2006 doesn't work.
Even the symbol on the panel shows error.
It is frustrating. All my Linux life I want to use Mandrake, but always I find a problem that makes it no use for me.
Any Solution?

Xorg bug

Well in fact it seems to be an Xorg bug.

A workaround is here :

http://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=28819&st=0

Check #13 onwards.

Lightbulb Greek Kbd Layout Problem solved

Thanks for the reply.

I solved the problem.
It is created by the incosistency of Mandriva in the country symbol.
In some places they use ¨gr¨ and in other ¨el¨.
We go to /etc/X11/xkb directory and
-we create an ¨el¨ line in /etc/X11/xkb/rules/XFree86.lst
-we rename the ¨gr¨ file to ¨el¨ in /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc

and then we select the ¨el¨ icon from the keyboard layout screen.
Works fine

"el" stands for "ellinika" , a latin word sounding like genuine "greek".

Actualy "ellinika" (the Greek language) comes from "Ellas" an ancient Greek word for Greece (we Greeks refer to our coutry as "Ellas" or "Ellada").
