Games Hanging in 10.0

Hey I just installed Mandrake 10.0. The install went smoothly after I figured out that I had to boot from disk 2.

I've only encountered one problem. The games are not working. Frozen Bubble starts and works okay, but the window won't close -- I can't exit the game. Other games such as Chromium will start but they run painfully slow! Can't controll the action at all and they won't quit.

Could this be caused by a bad video driver? On the install I chose "Nvidia GeoForce 4 Generic. " Is Open GL missing?

Can anybody direct me to a solution?Pengy:

Thanks:

Seems like you need the nvidia drivers from the www.nvidia.com webpage.

I think the driver is installed

Where should I look to find out what video driver is installed? It appears that NV is installed but how can I be certain?

found it

I found the newbie tutorial for installing nividia drivers and everything went well except I got an error on the installer. It had trouble finding the kernel. "Kernel source tree for currently running kernel" It suggested I make sure the Kernel source.rpm was installed. Anybody know how to resolve this one?

Here, I had the same problem as you. Read this thread, it _will_ get you all setup :-)

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Hey all thanks for your suggestions.

I got through the NVIDIA installation. I found the source-kernel rpm amongst the packages in the drake installer. I installed it and tried to do it again. This time it worked just fine. Highly recommend this one to anyone whohasn't done this before!
