Hello,
I've been trying to install VMWare on my new installation of mandrake 10. Only one package keeps me from it. I can't install the g compiler because when i try to install using the rpms the installation hangs. It happens only with this certain package, more like it happens to only the packages pertaining to the compiler.
Thanks for any help!

That doesn't seem to be the problem because it does the same thing even when the cd sources are disabled. I can still install things from the cds also, so i know that they aren't defective.
Since it is a fresh install, perhaps you could re-install using the expert install (press F1) and make sure you select the developmental packages on the install.
