From Mandrake 10.0 Official To 10.1 Community(Won't upgrade.)
I decided to give 10.1 community a try. I am running 10.0 Official now. What is happening is that when I go to upgrade it tells me that there is a problem, oops no root partition. Ok, there is a root partition, lol. I am using 10.0 Official now. I tried the f1 and f2 options but I am not sure what, if anything, I can do from there for it to recognize my root partition. I have two Hard Drives. On the first one I have WinXP, swap, Mandrake root, Room for lfs(when I start that again,) and Mandrake home. On the second Hard Drive I have To Backup Partitions and the last partition is being saved for lfs home. Am I missing something here? I suppose I can use the two lfs partitions temorarily so I can give 10.1 a try but I would rather try and update 10.0 Official to 10.1 Community. Thanks
I tried to upgrade as well, i get through the upgrade only to not be able to boot into KDE or Gnome, I couldn't even start X. I ended up doing a clean install, as for a install, from what i under stand you do not need to remove your /home partition.

try that way maybe??
That sounds like the way I may be going. That or I may install it on another partition without erasing my current Mandrake, just to see what its like. To tell you the truth I am very happy with 10.0 Official but curiousity has the best of me, lol. I am going to sleep on it and decide tomorrow. How is 10.1 Community compared to 10.0 Official? Do you think it was worth the hassle or maybe it would be wiser just to wait for 10.1 Official sometime in November?

I'm certainly happy with mdk 10.1, as for if i think it's worth the hassel, for me it was, only because i didn't have anything important that i wanted/needed.
