For once and for all.....Mandrake install.
I have already managed sometimes to (successfully) install Linux, but whenever I get this Drake dude in front of me it intimidates the **** out of me and I can hardly distinguish left from right.
Can somebody please help me along here?
I have one hd (hda) entirely allocated to windows. I have one hd (hdb) entirely allocated to Linux. I want to keep it that way. Windows is XP for what it's worth.
Hdb is divided up in some five partitions, one for each Linux distro.
Presently I have two distro's on hdb1 and hdb2 and I want to add a third one on hdb3. So far so good.
The partitions are done in fat so I have to do the manual or expert or whatever it's called install.
So, I pick the partition i want to use (not very difficult), but then..... It wants to know what is boot, what is root, what is / with some buttons I can push that I hardly know what they mean. How the f*** am I supposed to know???
Why can't it just leave everything as it is and just install Mandrake wherever I want it to be???
Anyway, I already know the answer to that one: it won't.
So, presently it's booting from Suse's (grub) bootmanager and for all I care it can stay like that or it may change to Mandrakes, it doesn't really matter. As long as I get a bootmanager that lets me choose which OS to start.
Can somebody please help me with what buttons i have to push here to get things working without losing any bits and pieces??
Thanks in advance for any help/ideas they will be most appreciated!
