Firefox video Plug-in not working?
On some websites, I am unable to view streaming video/audio. For example, it will just display a black window and sometimes I am able to hear sound, but not see video. Othertimes, nothing will load and I'll get a blackscreen.

Well I looked at what the videos had in common and that they are all *.mov files (apple quicktime). AVI and MPG streaming videos work fine. I guess I need better Quicktime codecs? Does anyone know any good Quicktime codecs for Linux?

The problem is the version of the mplayer plugin you're using doesn't work with 10.0 very well. I have never been able to get that version to work. So I did a fresh install of the source. The How-to explains it very clear. Give it a look.

As I said, The How-to works for version 10. Not 9.1. If you had stated you were on 9.1 the answer is different. For 9.1 you will have to install the appropiate version of mozilla-devel rpm. Thats the package that gecko sdk is found. What version of Mozilla are you running??? If its default for 9.1 I think its mozilla 1.2. so install the "devel" package for that version of Mozilla and it should compile. Remember even though you are running Firefox .93 your mozilla version is what its compiling against.
Sorry for the confusion. If this isn't correct , post your Mozilla Version and we'll get you going. |

Just launch Mozilla and go to the Help->About Mozilla page. Thats the active version you are using.
