firefox, right click, save as, does nothing. No response.

Hi, I'm running Mandriva 2010.1-x86_64 (cooker) For the most part.

Firefox 3.6.3, kde4.4.3,

Firefox plugins: noscript1.9.9.96 and HTTPS-Everywhere0.1.2.

I usually have the Klipper tool disabled, I rarely require that level of copy/paste history functionality.

Anyone else have a similar setup with similar results.

I could install another browser, But that is not my intention. Any advise along these lines would be greatly appreciated.

Regards Glenn

ps. No such problem using konqueror as the browser.

I have seen this due to Konqueror saving to default directory and Firefox saving to a directory FF does not have permission to enter.

Ahh, you gave me an idea, I started firefox from Konsole, and there is an error message,

Code:

glenn@GamesBox:~$ firefox                                                      (24-06 23:46)
KCrash: Application 'kmozillahelper' crashing...
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
KCrash failed to exec(), errno = 2

So, kmozzilahelper just may be the cause...

I looked in to the advise you gave, but I could not see the setting for the default download directory.

The permissions on the downloads folder have not changed for some time.
It was while I was looking for that that I remembered a good debugger for gui apps is to launch them from a cli.

I'll get back with the results asap.

cheers, Glenn

OK, seems somehow, when installing task-kde4, task-kde4-minimal

the i586 (32bit) version of the package was installed.

I had to force the removal of kmozillahelper along with the kde4 "task" (meta) Packages.

Then I (re)installed kmozillahelper (64bit) and the task packages for kde4.

And now it works.

This problem is SOLVED.

Thank you very much for your response.

Cheers and Regards Glenn

Glenn, don't forget to drop a bug report on your issue so the same thing does not happen when the final comes out . . .

GlennsPref 06-25-2010 01:55 AM

kde or mandriva?

I'll do both, thanks for the reminder.

Regards Glenn
