Firefox 3.5.5 crashes Mandriva 2010 session

Hi,
I've just updated to Mandriva 2010 via a downloaded free iso, went ok except for Firefox which I loaded from urpmi and when I try to run it I get a black screen and have to login again. What have I done wrong?

Hi,
Run Firefox from a command line and see what error it reports..That would
be a start..

I tried starting firefox from the console under root and it works, but with:

An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for firefox. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.

and on the console:

(firefox:10798): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: cannot connect to the session bus: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

any ideas?

Hi, GVFS is a virtual file system used to remotely (from outside) control your pc.

I use kde4, and not gnome, so I simply uninstalled the gvfs package, with --no-deps.

And I stopped getting the error.

Not sure how it was installed in the first place, a bit suss.

hope this helps.

I've just installed firefox 3.6 Beta 4 and it works perfectly.
I had previously tried 3.5.3, 3.5.4, and 3.5.5 and had always the same problem.
I've looked for GVFS but don't have it installed.
Thanks for your help anyway
Geoff

Hi, I recalled how I got gvfs installed, when I installed mandriva 2010.0

I decided to have a look at lxde desktop as well as kde4.

I think that is how it was installed on my system.

Anyway, I'm glad you have it working.

I might try ff3.6 too.

Thanks for the tip,

cheers Glenn
