I checked openoffice 2.0.4, and found
out that it can be downloaded w/w java bundled with it

I have just loaded both the Thunderbird 1.5.09 and Firefox 2.0.0.1 versions on a 64bit Mandrake 10.1. (Since I ahve yet to get the 2007 to work under apache and PHP and find the man10.1 is the only version that works.

It is much easier than before to download these two versions now, but not as rpm's.

I went to www.mozilla.org and clicked on the download of each one and downloaded to where I wanted them to reside. Unzipping creates a directory from where they operate from.

my example for thunderbird was in a terminal in the directory where I had downloaded them to I typed

gunzip -c thunderbird-1.5.0.9.tar.gz | tar xvf -

then changed to the directory where the decompressed files were

cd thunderbird

then ran it with the command

./thunderbird

this took all my previous mail and put it in my new version.

I then edited my desktop ikon to point to the directory

I did the same with Firefox but this insisted I reboot as it kept saying that I had a firefox running even though I couldn't find it.

Firefox 2.0 then booted with all my bookmarks still there again. I then changed the ikon again to point to the new firefox.

One thing I still have been unable to do and I hope someone can help on this is when I click on a URL in thunderbird it will not fetch up the firefox browser.

Anyone knows how to do this I would appreciate the help.

In konqueror where firefox is defined as the main application for *.html
you may want to add %u after the firefox command line.
That fixed the problem you described, but with kmail

I have Firefox 1.5.0.10 installed. I cannot get Flash to work at all, despite having installed* the .rpm from Macromedia.

*I chose the file installer option in the download box.

A couple weeks ago I tried to install Opera's latest beta and ran into a similar problem. I spent a couple days working on the problem 'cause I expect to solve everything on my own. Eventually I found a site where the required libraries were availabe. It is possible the file is already on your system somewhere, just not in the path where it is needed. Try a find by name .
Right now I'm trying to find it again so I can post it here... look at rpm2html.osmirror.nl/libstdc++.so.6.html There is a large list of c++ lib files.
This is my first chance to try to help someone here... I hope this info is helpful.

Mozilla compatible plugin for Flash rendering
swfdec-mozilla Available from the contrib repo.

This is a Mozilla compatible plugin for rendering of Flash animations
based on the swfdec library. It should work as well in other browsers.

there are other packages you might try, like...

gnash-0.8.2-2mdv2008.0.x86_64.rpm (gnuflash),(I have this installed)
lib64gnash0-0.8.2-2mdv2008.0.x86_64.rpm,(I have this installed)
gnash-firefox-plugin-0.8.2-2mdv2008.0.x86_64.rpm,(I have this installed)
FlashPlayer-9.0.115.0-1mde2008.0.i586.rpm, (I have this installed)

some of these may be "old" versions.

Because they are mostly 32bit, you'll need to copy or link them, if you have a 64bit system, to the /usr/lib64/firefox-3.0.b5/plugins
I also had to copy the .so files to the /usr/lib64/mozilla(some version)/plugin directory.

you may find the plugins here.../usr/lib/flash-plugin
and /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper
or /usr/lib64/gnash
and /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins

or you can search for then with locate (as root) (as mentioned in the above firefox post)
note: if you just installed it, you may need to "updatedb" first (as root)

locate flashplayer
locate libflashplayer
locate libjavaplugin
locate swfdec
locate helix

you may also need libstdc++6.

I don have all of these installed, but flash is working.
