Hey Guys,

I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone but I purchased a PC with what I thought came with an AMD Athlon 1400 XP processor. The PC was cheap enough to buy and I was going to steal the AMD chip off of it and use it in a better motherboard, well when I opened the PC I noticed it was not an AMD Athlon and to be honest with you, I have no idea what it is. Anyway, it has a fan on top of processor attached by four Phillips screws, and the processor looks like an aluminum square with a bunch of slotted fins. Is there anyway this could be a Duran instead of an Athlon processor and do I have any remedies under the law. I purchased it because I was told it was an AMD Athlon 1400 XP, otherwise I would not have made the purchase.

Just goes to show you that it's always something........

You really need to take the heatsink off to see what the cpu is... Or if you run linux / knoppix on it, see what /proc/cpuinfo has to say about it...
