I am currently testing Mandriva 2008, and there is one weird thing I noticed : the system only offers me VERY low refresh rates, the highest available being 59 hz.

The problem is I don't have a flat screen, for which such frequencies are perfect, but a good old-school cathodic screen, a Diamond Pro 730, excellent quality and color rendering, with which I usually use 85 or 100 hz of refresh rate.

I really don't know why that could be, maybe that is linked to my new Geforce FX 8800. I don't think that is because of my screen, Mandriva accepts it when I manually tell him this is a Diamond Pro 720 (my previous system, mandriva 2007, just the same way, didn't recognize the screen himself, but accepted 85 hz of refresh rate).

Would you have an idea about what could have caused it ?
With weak eyes like mine, I really SEE the lack of refreshing, and that is exhausting for the eye, unfortunately

Appendix D has info on edid (monitor stats) and dpi(dots per inch). (Before the middle of the page)

Option "UseEdidFreqs" "boolean" . You can override the defaults. Use with extreme care.

Careful, the wrong Setting can destroy your monitor.

You may get the modes from an old xorg.conf, from mandy 2007.x install.
