Question evolution prints weird fonts

I have recently installed Mandrake 9.2 download edition.
I'm using Evolution as my e-mail client.
I received an html-formatted mail message using the Arial font.
when I print the message, it comes out in a weird font that looks like a Pink Panther movie title. The same font is visible when I do print preview.

How do I get Evolution to print using fonts that look normal (like the sender intended)?

Here's as far as I've got in researching this myself:
I have googled around for a couple hours, and it seems Evolution uses gnome-print to print and to do print preview. I can't find gnome-print on my system, and can't find it in rpmdrake. (I can find the gnome-print development libraries, but I hope I don't need them!)

Am I on the right track, or is there a simple way to get Evolution to use popular fonts?

Thanks in advance,
- TSloth

I filed a bug report with Ximian the makers of evolution back in October. I've yet to receive a response from them or a bug fix. I switched my family and 10 other users to the Mozilla client. If you also notice there no way to export your address book. If your contact list gets corrupted good bye contacts. They have a lot to fix with that email client and they don't want to fix them unless you a corporate entity.

Unhappy CentOS Gnome Evolution kerning issue

Yes it's been years on this thread but I am having trouble locating a resolution to this issue regarding the Evolution email client and its attempts to print out email messages.

I am using Evolution 2.12.3 in a Gnome environment. This environment was constructed by installing CentOS 5.4 and using the package updater. The issue is uneven kerning (inter-character spacing) in printouts and in save-to-file generated .ps and .pdf files from the Evolution email viewer. Every other application I've tried prints and kerns beautifully to these two printers -- Firefox printing web pages, OpenOffice printing documents, and the built-in text editor printing plain text files. Even the cups test page prints out like a work of art. But on those occasions when I must print out an email, what I get is difficult to read because the odd spacing of characters is so distracting.

I hope there is someone who knows how to update the Evolution config file, to select a more reliable font, or alternative printer setup, anything to help this situation. As of now, printing emails is one of the very few things I still have to do on my Windows box.

I have found a workaround but it won't apply to everyone. In Firefox I can bring up the message I want in Outlook Web Access (Microsoft's web mail) and it prints nicely that way.

I have found posts where others have seen this problem, but I am not finding it anywhere in the Evolution web site. Any ideas?

Please advise
....MontyMan.
