Question Enabling dual processors on Mandrake 10.1...

I installed Mandrake 10.1 on a Dell 530 Workstation with dual Xeon processors. The install was a snap and everything seems to be working great. Harddrake is showing each processor correctly, (Id 1 and Id 2) but I'm not sure if they are actually enabled and being utilized. I read in another post that for Mandrake to use multiple processors the kernel must be recompiled, or the distro must be RPM, or something like that???

What other tools in KDE, or commands in a shell, can I use to determine if dual processors are recognized and being used?

Nope if the dual processors appear in HardDrake then everything is fine.

I was thinking the same thing, but I was concerned about the posts I read regarding recompiliing the kernel to support multiple processors.

Thanks

Not needed. AFAIK the stock kernel comes with SMP support.

At worst just urpmi the kernel you want.

No recompile needed.

e.g.

urpmi to see what is available.

Make sure you set up your sources!

What do you mean by urpmi?

OK. Last night I was in KDE and hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 to switch over to the bash shell login screen. I did not notice it before, but displayed across the top of the screen was something like...

Madrake Linux Kernel 2.3.4...Dual x686 Processors

So I'm sure it is recognizing both chips.
