Eclipse and JDK

Good afternoon;

I have just downloades eclipse 3.1 and the JDK. I am using MDV2006 free edition for x86_64.
I don have problems installing the JDK, but I don know for sure what to put in my .bashrc, to get java in my path and be able to lauch Eclipse. I would appreciate a lot any help with this.
To program under eclipse, is it enough with the JRE or it is necessary the JDK?
Regarding with this after installing it, can I make firefor support java? Ie seen comments in previos threads but I dont understand them very well... sorry about that.

Thank you very much for any kind of help.

Regards,

If you're the only person using using Java on that box, you can put the following information in your .bash_profile file (if more than one user accesses Java, put it in /etc/profile):

Code:
export JAVA_HOME="/path/to/root/of/java/install"
export PATH="${JAVA_HOME}/bin:$PATH"
Have a look at the Firefox FAQ for the Java plugin setup at: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq#q2.2)

And Eclipse will use a JRE or a JDK according to http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/...-runtimes.html

Basically, for Firefox if it's installed in /usr/local/firefox and you're using java 1.4.2 installed as below, change to /usr/local/firefox/plugins and type
Code:
ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so

thank you

Hello;

All works prefectly, although I havent dealed with firefox yet.
Only one simple question: How I do uninstall the Java JDK if I want to? Simply erasing the directory created by the bin installer?

Thank you very much
