DVD Playback

Hi there,

Never had a problem playing a DVD video on Mandriva LE 2005 before until now.

I have an original DVD that has 6 episodes on it, the first 3 play fine, but the remaining 3 wont play (Choppy sound only)

The whole DVD plays fine on a standalone DVD player and my Windows computer.

So far I`ve tried several players and re-installed dvdcss

any ideas would be great as I have run out of them heheh

I`ve tried Kaffiene, Mplayer, Totem and Xine, same problem with them all, Episodes 1,2 & 3 on the DVD play back perfect, but episodes 4, 5 & 6 on the same DVD have ok audio with choppy pixalated video.

CPU useage is low.

I get the feeling it`s not decrypting the second half of the DVD.

it is decrypting it otherwise you wouldn't be able to see or hear anything. Do you have this problem with any other DVDs?

what if you use say, mplayer to dump the video to a file first before watching it? might hint at wether it's hardware issues, deciding or such.

I really believe there is something incorrect about the recent version of libdvdcss-1.2.9. I'm also having problems playing DVD's in Mandriva and they all give DVD errors with all different players (Kaffeine, Totem, VLC). THe same DVD's I try work fine in Windows and on my DVD entertainment system.

Maybe we should try a previous version of libdvdcss? I remember DVD's play fine when I was using Mandrake 9.2.

I get a choppy DVD playback on Kaffeine and Xine, while the same disk plays great with VLC. Any suggestion ?
