A friend of mine is running an old Gateway pc and I am trying to dual boot windows 2000 and Mandrake 9.1. I go thru the install and the I reboot. I get into windows fine but when I try to get into Mandrake it freezes after I select Linux. I think it might be an incompatibily but I am not sure. Any ideas?
How old is it exactly? If it's a 386/486, maybe your kernel is optimized for 586+.
Or maybe it needs initrd boot image butr has not enough ram to allocate it.
However imho mkd is not the right distro for a low-end pc. I'd go with deb or slack instead.
