Does 9.2 PPC have ibook modem support?

I have a blueberry ibook that I want to put Mandrake on, but I want to be able to use modem, first. I tried YDL some time ago, and couldn't get past modem issues. I presume that it is a software modem. I don't know a lot about Linux, which tends to makes some configuring (from a shell) difficult...

Thanks!

hmm, my Powerbook g3 modem worked just fine with YDL
you just have to know which 'serial port' it's attached to
mine tells me the following at bootup
code
-----
tty00 at 0xd11a4020 (irq = 15) is a Z8530 ESCC, port = modem-printer
tty01 at 0xd11ab000 (irq = 16) is a Z8530 ESCC, port = infrared (IrDA)
tty02 at 0xd11b1020 (irq = 79) is a Z8530 ESCC, port = internal-modem (internal modem)
-----
just replace the '0' in tty0X with an S (ttySX)
to setup my modem for use i'd plug in /dev/ttyS2

my guess is that you just need a few pointers to get it to work, but as far as i know, apple doesn't use software modems (other than the infamous geoport)

thanks!

Thanks for the info! I had a terrible experience both times I tried to use YDL on my ibook. Granted, I'm not a Linux pro, but I subscribed to the YDL mailing list and never had my modem issues resolved. I think I'll try Mandrake PPC for now for 3 reasons:

1. I'm planning on installing it on my Dell
2. I *think* the installer can do a non-destructive partition, which save me the trouble of wiping the HD or buying a HD utility.
3. It seems like there is a more active Mandrake community.

If and when the time comes, I'm sure I'll be posting here again for modem help! I'd love to have my ibook online under Linux.
