Wow, that camera connects via serial port. I forgot pc's still had them. GTkam does list support for it, Your delema is
serial ports need root permission.
This should work if you open a terminal window and
1) type "su" without quotation marks, and enter key
2) supply your root password and enter key
3)Type "gtkam" without quotation marks and hit enter key.
you now have gtkam running with root permissions, simply have your camera plugged in and powered on, select your camera model (Polaroid Fun! 320), and the first port, and hit detect button. You may have to do that changing the port # each time (there are seven listed to try) till you get the port assigned to your camera.
I believe after you figure out which serial port your camera connects to you can change the permissions so you can run gtkam as regular user by the following command as root:
chmod a+rw /dev/ttyS0
the last digit of command will be 0 - 7 depending on which port camera was discovered on.
*********I have no experience with changing permissions on devices, so if I am wrong somebody please speak up***********************
Better yet, hold off on the chmod command unless someone says it is good, in mean time always start gtkam as above (in terminal as super user)
In trying to learn a bit about these polaroid serial cameras, I came across the funniest review I have ever read off topic, but it made my morning, LMAO:

Learned me some interestin stuff this morn, although I probably never will get a serial device, but that polaroid review made it all worth while.
