Delay between Nvidia logo and display manager

Since I upgraded my 10.0 to 10.1 via urpmi. there have been huge (well, few minutes) delay after Nvidia logo. No matter what display manager is used, KDM, MdkKDM or GDM, the delay is much longer than before upgrade. Otherwise the system works fine.

I unchecked unnecessary services in MCC, and have been wondering if this could relate to firewall settings. I am using Guarddog.

are there any warning [WW] or error [EE] messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

Can't see any problem there. Not a clue what else to look for then sry!!

Try logging in as root.

Do you get the same delays as root?

This delay appears before I can even log. After logging it's as smooth and fasf as ever before.

Ah, ok.

The display manager is a process called "DM".

It is launched at startup before all the OTHER processes finish loading.

There is probably something ELSE causing the problem.

Reboot, and perform an INTERACTIVE start by quickly hitting SHIFT-I when indicated.

Hit "Y" for each and every service EXCEPT "DM".

After you hit "N" for DM continue on, and note which service takes a long time to start.

That will be the one giving you all of the problems.
