Creating Local Update Mirror

I've mirrored the Mandrake updates on my local machine but I can't seem to get the configuration to see them. Anyone setup a local update system?

Cheers.

you'll need to generate an hdlist.cz for it. this can be done using genhdlist
Then just put in the paths in the Software Media Manager.

HTH.

This file was mirrored directly from a Mandrake Update server. It appears to load the list file but I always get a "void" error.

if it says "the list of updates is void" (or something like that) then it means you've already installed those updates and there's no new ones to install, IIRC.

I familar with what it means but since I've installed no updates, there must be something else wrong. I went so far as to check a few of the version numbers between installed software and those in the update queue. They don't match. Something isn't quite right but unfortunately it doesn't give much information.

Cheers.

in your Media Manager it is named update_source, right? I'm running out of ideas... got me stumped now.

You are correct. That's what makes the issue so strange.

Cheers.

I'm going to try mucking around with mine and see what I can see. I think you may have to use a webserver and add it not as "local files" but as "security updates" with url http://localhost/path/ but I'm not 100% sure. I'll let you know if I get it working.

Angry

Now I'm at a total loss. I'm right where you are on it and having the same problems though I don't see why it would be like that. Odd. I tried using the webserver, local files, just not working. (i'm on 9.2 but getting the same kinds of errors). I even tried regenerating my hdlist instead of the one on the server to no avail.

I've even tried the forums at Mandrake Club and have gotten no response. Very odd.

Cheers.
