Varun_saa, do you actually read the replies ?
Install ARK and KDE-MULTIMEDIA.
And voilą, the right-click menu in KDE (and perhaps gnome) will include that.
Also if you start "Ark" and then "new" ,you have a choice of what you create with the standard installation . Just change the "filter" to t.gz ,Gzip, zip, tar, whatever you want . No need to install anything else
Hmm, are you using KDE as a desktop, or are you using another desktop ?
If you're a Gnome user, there must be an equivalent for KDE-multimedia, but that I do not know :/
Something could help you, but I don't know that either : where the contents of the right-click contextual menu are stored. If I knew that, it would be possible to read on our disks the things that you should put on your disk :/
In the KDE Filemanager, to archive a directory, simply Right-Click the directory, then select "Actions/Archive and encrypt this folder". It works here ... .
You are missing the point Man
The post was to give you somewhere to go to find out how the servicemenus work .Thats all
Now you want to tgz a file Yes?
Select the file , right click ,select actions ,archive and the program Ark should start which allows you to name the new archive and to select the filter you want.
You choose .tgz
So now you have what you want No??
If Ark doesn't start like that for you then do the same but choose open with and choose Ark
