CPanel alternative --> ZPanel

I just ran across a very nice CPanel alternative called ZPanel

I installed it tonight on my mandrake 10.1 server and it works very good with very minimal tweaking.

I would suggest anyone looking for CPanel to check them out. Best of all its FREE !!

well.. i went and tried out... however i give it a 'crap' rating.

I am excited about where they can take this project, but i think it has a long way to go. Number one concern of mine: it is designed as a snap in sys admin util designed for ease of use (or idiot users, if you will). but there is zero concern for security. the install process mentioned chmodding 777, and no mention for securing it later. moreover, i was left with my db master user and password stored in clear text in a file with permissions rw-r--r-- owned by apache:apache!

i think the system is geared torwards MS/IIS, and found it not to work out-of-the-box on Slack 10.0. It could not recognize my system services (apache/mysql), and did not provide a convenient method for adapting the system to my configuration.

End result: i'd wait another couple releases before trying this out.

I agree. I've tried it twice now; first a month ago and now again after your recommendation.

Too bad its geared toward M$ and not platform specific.

Security is almost non-exsistant for linux.

Guess I jumped the gun on posting here.
