Control Center Settings Reset when reboot

I have Mandrake 10. Everytime I reboot the computer some internet settings in the control center get reset, forcing me to tweak some settings every time I reboot just to get my internet connection working. For one, the firewall setting always changes back to ppp+, but I need it to be eth0. Secondly, in the "manage connections" window, i have to set it to DHCP manually, then I have to log out and back in and only then will I be connected. Is there some file I can add some lines to to make these settings take place upon booting? Is there another way to save settings?
(I checked the "save settings" box in the log out menu, but that didn't seem to help).

I read another thread about someone having a similar problem but with the hardware module not being loaded, but my problem is not hardware. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i had the same problem. the fix i finally used was a dirty hack, of sorts. after wrestling with config files for ever, i finally decided to try the "upgrade" method. boot from instal cd, choose "upgrade". make sure you have all the updates/bug fixes/etc installed first. in lieu of a better solution, it worked for me. your milage may vary.
