Confusing keyboard issue

Mkay, I'm using mdk 10.1 currently, and they keyboard seems somewhat flaky outside of root. Typing doesn't seem to be an issue, but there are some other... strange things going on. As an example, tux always pulls hard to the left in tuxracer, as though someone were always holding the left arrow key down. The config file is fine, and tuxracer works fine in root. It does not, however, work fine in any user profile, including a new one. Most of the issues appear to revolve around the arrow keys, although sometimes other things happen. I'm assuming it's a permissions issue of some sort, but I'm not sure how to proceed.

I'm apparently an idiot. The problems seem to have been caused by my joystick. I should have thought of that a while ago, but the issue was occurring in things that don't support joysticks, so it didn't cross my mind.

You had the grace to to post the solution, however embarrassing, & save everyone the trouble of trying to help.

Furthermore, you may have provided a tip for folks who have the same problem in the future.

Finally, you have provided a reaffirmation of the "check the power cord first" school of troubleshooting.

Three valuable lessons, Thank You!
