Configuring Labtec USB webcam to use the dkms-gspcav1 module

Hello

I am running mandriva 2007 kernel 2.6.17.17 and am trying to get a labtec webcam going. I did some research and downloaded and installed the dkms-gspcav1 module which the camera recognizes when I try to set up the webcam via kopete or ekiga. I get some really weird error messages as listed below

gspcav1-20071224/gspca_core.c: [spca5xx_set_light_freq:1932] Sensor currently not support light frequency banding filters

gspcav1-20071224/gspca_core.c: [gspca_set_isoc_ep:945] ISO EndPoint found 0x81 AlternateSet 7

gspcav1-20071224/gspca_core.c: [gspca_set_isoc_ep:950] Set interface err -110

gspcav1-20071224/gspca_core.c: [spca5xx_open:1996] DEALLOC error on init_Isoc

I had a look at the recognized hardware in MCC and the camera is recognized and associated with the GSPCA module. Do I have to configure this module some how in MCC to get this camera to work ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Hardware detection tool in MCC allows you to Run config tool for most devices recognized. Some devices may also have a Set current driver options bar. When you select the device in the tree view pane (left), the devices information is displayed in the information pane (right). At the bottom of the information pane you may find the above mentioned button bars. I do not have a WEB cam set up on this old box, so I can not be of much help with information specific to configuring one, but MCC is the first place I go when I install new hardware here.

HTH,

Hello Ernie

Thanks for your comments. I found out quite by chance that part of the problem seemed to have been that I had the webcam attached to a cheap USB hub which was then attached to the Linux (mandriva) box. When I connected the webcam directly to the computer, I could see the dkms-gspcav1 module being loaded in syslog. Using kopete, I could get a fuzzy type of picture. The lines in syslog said that there was a problem with a) light frequency and b) a memory leak. So there has been some improvement, but I am not there quite yet

Thanks for your help
