compose a DVD out of the 4 CD-Pack of 10.1 Official

Hello !!

i am trying to save material on putting all cd´s on a single DVD.
actually i was able to mount the ISO´s with the "mount -l loop MandrakexxCDx /mnt/cdx" command. i put all cd´s into the rootdir of the DVD. soo far it worked great, i was just unable to write a bootsector on the DVD to make it boot without the needs of a spare 1,44" .
Hope to find an answer, would be appreciated.
soo long!!

i'd also like to know this as I have the 6 cd 10.1 official powerpack. rather awkward using 6 cd's when i can write a single dvd!

Thanks for that tip. makes sense to make an ISO first and then burn it on DVD.

confirmed

ok it works, except i was a fool the first time round to make the dest dir be /var/local/mkmandvd coz the script will rmeove that dir in the end!

so copy those lines and create a file called mkdvdiso.sh

chmod 770 mkdvdiso.sh

then for example create a dir in your home dir even called 10.1-official and place all the iso's in there, DONT MOUNT THEM, just put the *.iso files in the dir

then keep the mkdvdiso.sh script in ur home dir and execute (u may have to be root - i did it all as root)

./mkdvdiso.sh 10.1-official/ /your/output/dir/Mandrakelinux-10.1-Official-Powerpack-DVD.i586.iso

thats it, notice i put powerpack as I have the 6 cd powerpack.

cheers.

if I do that and then try to do a HD install, will that work too. I don't have a DVD burner but I have all 6 cds. When I leave them as ISO images during hard drive install, I don't get the option to install many of the applications that are on the other disks, just the first one.

Well, what keeps you from extracting the isos to a folder and install it from there ??
it is a quick way, and if you leve them, you will never have to deal with cd´s again, i assume.
